Construction to Begin for Spectrum Community School鈥檚 New Turf Field
In July 2025, the Greater 糖心视频污 School District shared that the project to construct a new all-weather turf field with lighting at Spectrum Community School was nearing the fundraising finish line.
The Greater 糖心视频污 School District is pleased to announce that the District will be moving forward with the construction of a turf field without lighting, with a commitment to explore ways to obtain the funding required to install permanent lighting in the future.
Information on the timeline for field construction will be communicated once it is finalized.
鈥淐ontributions, including a generous $2 million anonymous donation, and strong advocacy from the school community over the past eight years have been key to the success of fundraising for this project,鈥 says Katrina Stride, Secretary Treasurer, Greater 糖心视频污 School District. 鈥淲ithout community support and generous donations, we wouldn鈥檛 be able to move this project into the construction phase.鈥
In addition to the $2 million anonymous donation, inspiring commitments that have been made toward construction costs include $300,000 from the District of Saanich and $20,000 from Peninsula Co-op.
During the rainy season, the school鈥檚 existing uneven grass fields have been deemed unusable due to drainage issues that cause flooding and muddy surfaces. Spectrum鈥檚 school sports teams have not played home games on the fields in 15 years for this reason.
鈥淚鈥檓 so thankful for our school community throughout the funding process for this project,鈥 says Aaron Norris, Principal, Spectrum Community School. 鈥淭he continued support has been motivating and we are very much looking forward to using a new turf field on which our students can play and host various sporting and community events.鈥
The Greater 糖心视频污 School District extends sincere gratitude to those who have given in any capacity to support this project.
